EVANESCENCE released a new single, “Afterlife”, on Friday, March 28, 2025. A lyric video for the track, which will appear in Netflix‘s upcoming adult animated urban fantasy action television series “Devil May Cry”, will arrive on Thursday, March 27 at 9 a.m. PT. The lyric video will include “exclusive clips” from “Devil May Cry”, which is based on the Japanese video game franchise of the same name by Capcom. Created by Adi Shankar and produced by Studio Mir, “Devil May Cry” is scheduled for release on April 3 on Netflix.
Amy on the song in an interview with Billboard:
“For me, the song is both the pain and the resolve. From the perspective of someone who has lost so much, and will always carry the marks of that, but also someone who has reached the point of being past the fear. No trepidation, no hesitation in your quest when you have committed to the fight and have nothing left to lose.”
The music video was released on April 17, 2025. Directed by Jason Lester and produced by Dreambear, it was shot in a historic (and supposedly haunted) house in Tennessee. It also features some unseen footage of the Devil May Cry series, rumoured to be from the upcoming season 2.
